Westchester High School will celebrate its 25th Annual Academic Recognition Night starting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday November 19th, in the school auditorium when academically-gifted seniors will be “honored in what is also known as Jacket Night.”
Initiated in 1984 by the school’s Academic Booster Club as a means of inspiring and honoring students who earn a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher, the event has become a signature program for the school.
Students will be presented with red-and-white letterman-style jackets in recognition of consistent achievement from their freshman through junior years.
In addition to the presentation of the jackets, the seniors each have their “moment in the sun” as their dreams for college and career are announced to the audience.
Over 120 underclassmen will also be recognized at the ceremony, with juniors receiving academic medallions, sophomores receiving “lamp of learning” pins, and freshmen receiving certificates of honor.
An alumni jacket recipient will speak about the significance of having earned an Academic Jacket.
The Westchester High School Academic Booster Club invites past, present, and future Westchester High families to attend the event and asks that those who received a jacket in the past 25 years to wear it.
