Westchester Lutheran Middle School’s cheer squad won first place in the National Cheerleaders Association (NCA)/ National Dance Alliance (NDA) Cheer and Dance U.S. State Championship held at Knott’s Berry Farm last month, school officials said.

Theteam was awarded the U.S. State Championship plaque and the championship banner at the cheer and dance competition.

Westchester Lutheran team members include: Kaiya Crawford (co-captain), Natalie Coleman, Drew Deason (co-captain), Shelby Forte, Hannah Hurst, Aycka Lima, Kristina Lorenzo, Rachael Mansell, Star Masterton, Ben Matsunaga, Preston Simpson, Pooja Singh, Preeti Singh, Cheyenne Van Every, and Katie Woodhams.

The team is coached by Marge and Marti Packman, and the competition routines are choreographed by Michelle Packman.

Westchester Lutheran has previously won two National Championships in Las Vegas in 2009 and 2010, and the State Championship in 2009 at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, school officials said.

The squad plans to compete in the 2011 National Championship in Las Vegas Saturday and Sunday, April 16 and 17.
