Westchester Lutheran Middle School basketball teams capped off the season in impressive fashion.

The seventh-grade boys team finished the season undefeated after capturing the Pacific Basin League Championship, while the sixth-grade boys basketball team ended the season with a victory in the St. John Lutheran School of Orange County tournament.

Westchester Lutheran’s sixth-grade team, coached by John Susich, won the St. John Lutheran School of Orange County tournament, placing first out of 14 teams and defeating Grace Lutheran, Christ Lutheran, St. John Lutheran and Salem Lutheran schools along the way.

The seventh-grade team, also coached by Susich and Mark Tennyson, emerged as undefeated champions of the Pacific Basin League by defeating Crossroads, St. Matthews and Wildwood schools.

The middle school’s girls basketball team placed eighth out of ten teams during the regular season, but reached the championship game in the playoffs and came in second overall in the Pacific Basin League.

The girls team, coached by Barbara Witner, defeated Wildwood, Crossroads and Willows schools on the way, but lost to eventual champion Windward.

Westchester Lutheran Church, which opened in 1944, is currently led by Pastor Fred Masted and is home to Westchester Lutheran School.
