The Westchester Lutheran Middle School boys cross-country team captured first place and the girls team finished in second place at the Pacific Basin League Cross Country finals at Cheviot Hills Park October 28th.

The Westchester Lutheran boys team won the league championship for the second year in a row.

Team runner Jack Matsunaga took first place in a field of 44 boys by completing the two-mile run in 12:15. Runners Jeff Elliott placed third, Cam Laine placed seventh, Luke Nuslein placed eighth and Alex Chinian placed ninth.

The Westchester Lutheran girls team finished in second place, as Jenn Johnson placed second out of 32 girls. Runners Lizzy Isgar placed sixth, Courtney Maeder placed tenth, Olivia Cummings, who ran with a broken arm, placed 16th, and Taylor Abraham placed 17th.

The team coaches are Elaine Lillie and John Susich.

Westchester Lutheran Church has served the Westchester community for over 50 years since its opening in 1944. The church is currently led by pastor Fred Masted and is home to Westchester Lutheran School, which serves pre-school to eighth grade.
