Fifth-grade students at Westchester Lutheran School helped collect more than 155 pounds of new school supplies last month to donate to students in Iraq.

The school supplies collected from the Westchester Lutheran students will be distributed to new schools constructed by the

U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in areas of Iraq that were destroyed during the war.

The distribution is scheduled to take place later this month and in early March to Iraqi schools in areas such as Al Hamra, Ali Al Safd, Taji, Kadamiyah, Tarimiyah and Hussyneiyah, Westchester Lutheran teachers said.

Westchester Lutheran Church has been serving the Westchester community for over 50 years since its opening in 1944. The church is currently led by

Pastor Fred Masted and is home to Westchester Lutheran School, which serves kindergarten through eighth grade.
