The Westchester Lutheran Middle School eighth-grade girls volleyball team captured first place in the Culver City Middle School Volleyball Tournament held Saturday, October 18th.
Westchester Lutheran, which finished with a record of 13-1, defeated St. Jerome in the semi-finals and Paul Revere Middle School in the finals to win the championship. Ten volleyball teams competed in the tournament.
Based on coaches’ votes, Ashlie Williams and Hailey Serrano were named team most valuable players. Gen Hook was named tournament most valuable player based on her strong play throughout the tournament, highlighted by a serving performance of 17 consecutive points in the semi-final game.
Westchester Lutheran Church has been serving the Westchester community since its opening in 1944. The church is currently led by pastor Fred Masted and is home to Westchester Lutheran School, which serves pre-school through eighth grades.
