The Westchester YMCA Orcas swim team completed its Southern California Swimming long course season early this month with the Junior Olympics competition at the Samuelson Aquatics Center in Thousand Oaks.

Eight swimmers from the Orcas team competed, including Bart Salvaterra, 10; Shaun Sharma, 10; Antonia Lorenzo, 12; Zach Profozich, 12; Jaylen Adams, 14; Sterling Salvaterra, 14; Nichol Walloch, 15; and Zachary Lew, 18, who finished his last competition with the Orcas.

In the boys 10 and under division, Bart Salvaterra brought home silver medals in the 50-meter freestyle (31.74), the 50-meter backstroke (37.60), a bronze medal in the 50-meter butterfly (35.13) and placed ninth in the 100-meter freestyle (1:12.84). Sharma reached consolation finals by placing ninth in the 100-meter backstroke (1:27:95), 11th in the 100-meter freestyle ( 1:14.81), ninth in the 200-meter individual medley (3:07.10) and 10th in the 50-meter backstroke (40.01).

In the boys 11-12 division, Profozich placed eighth in the 50-meter breaststroke (37.64) and 14th in the 100-meter breaststroke (1:26.61).

The team will be hosting an Orcas reunion party on Saturday, Oct. 23 at 7 p.m. at the Westchester YMCA annex. All former team members and their families are invited to attend.
