The Neighborhood Council of Westchester-Playa will host a planning and land use community forum from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, October 22nd at the Westchester Senior Center, 8740 Lincoln Blvd.
The keynote speaker will be Whitney Blumenfeld, the associate planning deputy for Los Angeles City Councilman Bill Rosendahl, who represents Westchester.
The planning forum is the first of a three-part program that is designed to educate the community, including neighborhood council members, stakeholders, property owners and other interested parties about the overall planning, land use, entitlement, zoning and development process. Part 1 is from the perspective of the City of Los Angeles. The October 22nd forum will also include reports and information regarding Los Angeles planning tools, accessory dwelling units, community planning and other topical issues.
Planning and land use issues from the point of view of the private sector will be presented at the next meeting and the third forum will include the perspectives of nonprofit/community organizations.
This comprehensive series of events will allow the Planning and Land Use Committee of the Neighborhood Council of Westchester-Playa to gather, study and disseminate critical information to the community and to its board members in a comprehensive, transparent and inclusive manner, a committee member said.
The goal is not only to educate, but also to encourage discussion and to empower the neighborhood council to make better informed decisions.
Comments and suggestions from the public for the next forums are welcome and may be sent to Steve Donell, chair of the Planning and Land Use Committee, at firstname.lastname@example.org/.
