The Eighth Annual Theodore Payne Foundation Native Plant Garden Tour, a self-guided tour of 35 private gardens across the Los Angeles area, including Mar Vista, Venice, Westchester and Santa Monica, will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, April 9 and 10.
The interactive tour offers visitors the opportunity to learn about the ease of gardening with California native plants, according to the Theodore Payne Foundation. Visitors can learn how to save water, eliminate or reduce pesticides and attract wildlife (birds, hummingbirds, butterflies, etc.) to their garden.
In most cases, the garden owners will be on hand, along with knowledgeable docents, to answer questions about their gardens. The garden owners, in many cases, have designed, planted and tended their own gardens. For gardens not designed by the owner, the gardener or designer will be on hand, a foundation spokesperson said.
Admission to all gardens on both days is $20.
