The American Red Cross of Santa Monica will drop 1,500 numbered golf balls over the MountainGate Country Club at 8:30 a.m. Monday, August 20th, to raise funds for the chapter.

Members of the public may purchase numbers from one to 1,500 for $15 each, which will be imprinted on regulation golf balls.

There is no limit to how many numbers an individual or organization may purchase.

The 1,500 numbered balls will be placed in a helicopter donated by Helinet and dropped over a putting green at the MountainGate Country Club.

The owner of the number of the ball that falls into the hole or comes closest to the hole will win $500 provided through the generosity of Red Cross sponsors.

The lucky “hole in one” winner need not be present to claim his or her prize, but participants and their guests are invited to show up and cheer their ball(s) into the cup.

A continental breakfast will be held at MountainGate Country Club for those on hand to watch the balls drop. Participants and friends of the Santa Monica chapter of the Red Cross who wish to attend the breakfast can reserve through the chapter.

MountainGate Country Club is at 12445 Mountain Gate Drive in Los Angeles, adjacent to the 405 Freeway above Brentwood.

Golf ball numbers for entry into the “Great Red Cross Golf Ball Drop” can be purchased until 5 p.m., Friday, August 17th, by calling the Santa Monica Red Cross at (310) 394-3773 or visiting the chapter at 1450 11th St. in Santa Monica during business hours.

Funds raised will go to the American Red Cross of Santa Monica, a publicly supported nonprofit corporation that provides health and safety education, youth services, CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) training, first aid training, disaster awareness and disaster relief efforts.
