A Los Angeles woman was killed late Monday, November 28th, when her vehicle went off the Marina Freeway (State Route 90) and rolled down the embankment east of Inglewood Avenue in Mar Vista, a California Highway Patrol (CHP) spokeswoman said.

Sydney Stokes, 26, was traveling eastbound on the Marina Freeway at about 11:30 p.m. when her vehicle veered across the right lanes for an unknown reason, the CHP spokeswoman said.

The vehicle hit the raised asphalt curb and became airborne, rotating upside down and continuing down the embankment.

The vehicle came into contact with several small trees and shrubs before coming to rest against a large tree, the spokeswoman said.

CHP officers and Los Angeles City Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene.

Stokes was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation is continuing.
