A woman died Saturday morning, December 15th, when the vehicle she was driving collided with a parked car on Admiral Avenue, close to Glen Alla Park, in Del Rey and burst into flames, Los Angeles city fire officials said.

Two Los Angeles Fire Department companies and four arson units were called at 11:04 a.m. to the 12900 block of Admiral Avenue, near Beethoven Street in Del Rey, where they saw several community members using a garden hose to extinguish a fire in a car, fire department spokesman Brian Ballton said.

The late-model Toyota sedan had burst into flames after colliding with a parked vehicle on the street, he said.

Firefighters used hand lines to confine the fire to the Toyota and extinguished the blaze in less than two minutes, Ballton said. The remains of the woman driver were found inside the burned vehicle.

The cause of the accident was under investigation.
