Regatta 17th floor condo
A 42-year old Los Angeles woman took her own life by jumping from the 17th floor of the Regatta condominium complex north of the Marina early Sunday, September 19th, Los Angeles Police Department Pacific Division officials said.
Police responded to 13700 block of Marina Point Drive at 9:30 a.m. Sunday after receiving calls from witnesses who saw the woman jump from the high-rise complex, LAPD Sgt. Michael Carodine said.
The woman was allegedly upset over the recent loss of her father and job, he said. Police have determined the incident was not criminally related and a suicide note was not found, he said.
The woman allegedly went to the complex posing as a potential lessee of a unit. A leasing agent took the woman to the 17th floor to view a unit and the woman purposefully left her purse in the bathroom, he said.
The woman then allegedly asked the agent to retrieve her purse to make a phone call, but when the agent came back to the room, the woman was no longer there, he said.
