Rosalie Friis-Ross took home a 50-inch plasma flat-screen digital TV after having the lucky golf ball that fell into the cup in the American Red Cross Santa Monica chapter’s Second Annual Helicopter Golf Ball Drop.
Members of the public were asked to donate $20 for the chapter’s Golf Ball Drop fundraiser, held at the MountainGate Country Club in Los Angeles July 28th.
Participants received a numbered golf ball for each $20 donation as 1,000 numbered golf balls were loaded onto and then dropped from a Helinet helicopter over the golf course at MountainGate.
Friis-Ross, a Brentwood resident, was the holder of ball number 125 that dropped into the cup. The 50-inch flat-screen TV she won was donated by Carlson’s TV and Appliance in Sp36
anta Monica. Friis-Ross acquired her golf ball at the Santa Monica Red Cross when she was taking first aid and CPR classes.
The ball was plucked from the cup by actor, Josh Duhamel, who appears on the hit NBC television and syndicated series Las Vegas and will be seen in the upcoming motion pictures Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and When in Rome. Both films are to be released next year.
Money raised by the Golf Ball Drop supports the charitable activities of the American Red Cross of Santa Monica, a nonprofit corporation that is dedicated to health and safety education, youth services, blood services, CPR and first aid training, disaster awareness and disaster relief efforts.
