A community workshop related to the City of Santa Monica’s next General Plan Land Use and Circulation Element (LUCE) focusing on boulevards in Santa Monica is scheduled from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, February 9th, at the John Adams Middle School cafeteria, 2425 16th St., Santa Monica.
The workshop will address opportunities for transit, walkability, neighborhood-serving uses and workforce housing.
The meeting is one of three scheduled in the next two months related to the Santa Monica General Plan Land Use and Circulation Element, which will help guide transportation and development in the city through 2025.
Eight workshops have previously been held on the plan, with hundreds of community members offering input. Some key principles addressed included creating attractive gathering and shopping areas within walking distance of all residents, enhancing pedestrian and bicycle networks throughout the city and increasing the number of parks and amount of open space in the city.
