Longtime Marina del Rey resident James Warren Stohr, a member of the Windward Yacht Center, died Sunday, December 2nd. He was 64.
Stohr was born and raised in San Pedro, but he was a resident of Marina del Rey for over 25 years.
He was a master craftsman in his trade and will be sorrowfully missed by everyone who knew him, friends said.
Stohr had been a member of the Windward Yacht Center, a yacht and boat repair facility in Marina del Rey, for several decades. Friends said his talent and craftsmanship can be witnessed on many vessels in the area and was “far beyond compare.”
“Jimmy was truly one of the good guys who would give you the shirt off his back and help you in time of need,” a friend said.
Stohr is survived by his nieces and nephews, James, Janice, Diane, David and Jonathan, and many friends.
A burial at sea has been scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Sunday, January 20th. A boat procession begins at D basin in Marina del Rey.
