Marina del Rey resident and author Yepraxi “Roxie” Haigentz has died. She was 76.

After a ten-year battle against breast cancer, Haigentz passed away October 19th.

Haigentz was born November 17th, 1931, in Aleppo, Syria. After completing a specialized program in education at the Beirut College for Women (now Lebanese American University) and the Near East School of Theology, she emigrated to the United States.

Known as a loyal employee, Haigentz was employed at the 20th Century Fox Film Studios for nearly 30 years until her retirement in 2004. She authored two books — My Journey Through Life/Surviving Breast Cancer (2005) and On the Wings of Fate (fiction, 2007).

She is survived by two sons, Sabin R. Piraino and Missak Haigentz, Jr.; daughter-in-law Madaline M. Haigentz; her sisters Lydia Gruettner and Mary Jizmejian; and her brother George Jizmejian.
