Entry forms will be available from Friday, September 1st, for the sixth annual Young Artist Contest, which celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month.

The contest is open to youths of all ethnicities between the ages of 12 and 18. Winners will be selected in late October in two age categories, 12 to 15 and 16 to 18.

Contest participants should submit an original 8.5-by-11-inch drawing based on the theme “Hispanic Heritage” to any Union Bank branch.

Union Bank of California, in partnership with Staples, is sponsoring the contest.

Entry forms will be available through Sunday, October 15th, at participating Union Bank branches countywide and on the Internet at www.unionbank.com/young artist

The bank’s three Santa Monica branches are at 2001 Wilshire Blvd., 1101 Montana Ave. and 429 Santa Monica Blvd., Suite 101.

First-place winners in each category will receive $1,000 and the first-place schools will also receive $1,000.

Second- and third-place winners will receive $500 and $250 respectively.

Additionally, Staples — a sponsor of the event — will present winners with additional prizes.

Other branch locations may be found at www.uboc.com

A completed form signed by a parent or legal guardian must accompany all entries. The deadline for entering is October 15th.

The contest is sponsored by the bank’s Diverse Markets Administration in conjunction with Staples and other activities and events Union Bank hosts during Hispanic Heritage Month.
