The Santa Monica Playhouse will present Reflections in the Mist for five performances Friday through Sunday, Aug. 26 through 28.

Featuring contemporary tales of love, secrets, community, and friendship, Reflections in the Mist combines performance art, music, dance, poetry, percussion and illusion.

Performances are scheduled at 2 and 7:30 p.m. Aug. 26 and 27, with a special “early bird” breakfast show at 9 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 28 at the Other Space at Santa Monica Playhouse, 1211 Fourth St., Santa Monica. A continental breakfast is included in the price of admission for the Aug. 28 performance only.

The show includes an ensemble of 8- to 14-year-old performers from the playhouse’s Summer Stock, a five-week immersion program that explores theater as a “total activity,” combining performance and theater management while emphasizing personal responsibility and commitment, as well as ensemble work, a playhouse spokesperson said.

The young performers explore the answers to such questions as, “What would it take to make a deal with the devil?” and “How can you tell when someone really loves you?”

The show is directed by Santa Monica Playhouse Co-Artistic Director Chris DeCarlo and Playhouse Associate Director Serena Dolinsky, with the book by Playhouse Playwright-in-Residence Evelyn Rudie and music by composer Matthew Wrather.

The cast features the 13 members of Summer Stock 2011: Asher Bank, Mira Baum, Sonya Broner, Izzy D’Amico, Sam Korobkin, Anilee List, Karli Jo List, Adya Mohanty, Esther Ollivier, Alex Poe, Meghan Shah, Sarah Silvers and Dylan Ollivier. Special effects are designed by Nima Ghassemian.

Tickets are $20, with discounts available for students, teachers, seniors, members of the military and groups of eight or more. For information, reservations and group sales, the Playhouse Box Office at (310) 394-9779 ext. 1, or
