Santa Monica city and law enforcement officials will present donated toys to hundreds of children as part of the Seventh Annual “Best Gift Ever” Toy Drive Saturday, Dec. 20.
The Santa Monica Police Activities League (PAL), Downtown Santa Monica and Santa Monica Place jointly sponsored the “Best Gift Ever” Toy Drive, one of several Winterlit programs and events in Santa Monica this holiday season. Additionally, Santa Monica Place, Plurastic School One (PS#1) and the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District have all contributed to the continued success of the program, organizers said.
Community volunteers and local dignitaries, including Police Chief Jacqueline Seabrooks, Fire Chief Scott Ferguson, City Manager Rod Gould, Downtown Santa Monica CEO Kathleen Rawson and Santa Monica Chamber of Commerce President Laurel Rosen helped wrap the donated gifts to be presented to local youths.
From mid-November through mid-December, community residents and local businesses were invited to donate gifts at drop-off locations including ICE at Santa Monica skating rink and Santa Monica PAL.
PAL representatives will distribute the toys to children ages 6 to 17 who might not otherwise receive presents this holiday season, at the Dec. 20 event.
